Milner Is Key Man for Villa

Aston Villa boss David O'Leary has admitted the form of on-loan Newcastle United young gun James Milner is giving him a selection headache.

England Under-21 international Milner joined his old Leeds United boss O'Leary at Villa Park just before the transfer deadline as part of the deal that ensured Nobby Solano's second coming to Tyneside.

Milner made a good start to the season for United after firing in two goals during the InterToto Cup campaign against Dubnica and Deportivo la Coruna, but O'Leary insisted that the 19-year-old had to join Villa on a season-long loan deal if Graeme Souness wanted to bring Solano back.

And since joining Villa, Milner has shone in a claret and blue shirt, netting three goals and weighing in with several assists, with O'Leary keen to make the deal permanent.

Milner (pictured below), has also kept out Villa stalwart Lee Hendrie out of the starting XI, with the England international only enjoying a recall due to Milner's absence on Saturday against his parent club because of Premiership rules.

It leaves O'Leary with a dilemma ahead of Saturday's clash with Bolton at the Reebok Stadium.
