Would-be performers have the chance to show off their skills in a North East talent show.

If you think you were pipped at the post for Pop Idol or you have the elusive X-factor, judges at the Westgate Road Baptist Church are ready and waiting for you.

Best in the West aims to showcase all the talent in Newcastle's West End.

This year's event was a great success and organisers hope the next show, being held at the Hub, in Westgate Baptist church on January 21, will attract even more talent.

Shahina Begum, of Newcastle New Deal in the Communities, who is organising the event, said: "Whatever your age or talent we want as many people to take part as possible.

"You can be a solo performer or part of an act, there are no restrictions. If you don't have a burning ambition to reach for the stars then you must know someone who does.

"Even if you don't want to perform come along and enjoy the show and vote for your favourite act. They could be the next Robbie Williams."

The event will take the form of popular ITV show, the X-Factor with four-judge panel there to give constructive and positive criticism of the performers. …
