I know that speed vans are situated on Shibdon Bank, Winlaton, and I know a few people who have had pounds 60 fines going to work and back. Maybe they were doing 33-36mph. I know the speed limit is 30mph in built-up areas. With the money they're collecting why don't they put 30mph signs up to jog people's memories instead of hiding their vans? It's easily done when you're driving along and I don't think 33-36mph is bad. Also, if they went up to Park Head Estate they would have a field day. Children are doing 60mph at night.

A VENT your spleen on Wednesday, December 7, was about United singing the Blaydon Races. Why don't they go back to wearing the black and white shirts? They had more luck.

IS IT really necessary for police cars to blast out their sirens in the early hours? I appreciate response times are very important but surely flashing light should be enough when there's nothing on the roads or do they derive some kind of pleasure from waking up a whole community? …
