HARLEQUINS captain Andre Vos is halfway towards giving his team the only present they want for Christmas - a rapid return to the Guinness Premiership.

As the man at the head of Quins when they lost their Premiership status and around [pounds sterling]2million of income last season, Vos believes it is his personal responsibility to restore wounded pride at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

He admits: "For those of us who were at Quins last season and suffered the blow of relegation, there is a responsibility to put things right."

So far that mission is going to plan.

Vos (right) has led Quins to 12 successive National Division One wins - they are eight points clear at the top of the table - and second-from-bottom London Welsh will arrive at the Twickenham Stoop on Boxing Day well aware that the league leaders have scored more points (420) than any other club and conceded the least (148) this season.

While the statistics suggest Vos's personal quest is rather easier than most, the former Springbok captain is quick to dispel the idea that rugby life in what constitutes English rugby's second division has been a breeze. …
