A tormented teenager is too frightened to return to school where a pupil was allegedly stabbed by a fellow classmate.

Bright 13-year-old Zoe Morrison, from North Kenton, Newcastle, said she endured two years of bullying at Seaton Burn Community College in North Tyneside.

Despite complaining to teachers at the school, Zoe claimed the problem got worse.

Now she is too frightened to return after a 14-year-old pupil was arrested on suspicion of stabbing another pupil in an alleged bullying incident.

Russell Elliott was stabbed in the back with a scalpel during a biology lesson and had to be treated in hospital for a minor puncture wound.

Zoe and her parents, Mark and Susan, have now decided to speak out to the Chronicle.

"I felt I was being driven out of the school and they were making me miserable," said Zoe.

"After the stabbing at the school I was too frightened to go back, because I believed it could have been me.

"The teachers at the school say we can go and see them if we're being bullied but that doesn't seem to solve the problem."

Zoe has not been to school for nearly five weeks and is suffering from pains in her stomach, which her parents believe could be caused by stress.

Dad Mark, 38, said: "We want to speak out about what has happened to Zoe and show that any youngsters going through the same thing shouldn't suffer in silence.

"Schools should be made to do as much as they can on bullying but we don't feel Seaton Burn has done enough.

"Zoe is a really bright pupil and when all this started, her work began to suffer. We're determined not to send her back there."

Zoe claimed the bullying started just weeks after she started at the school. The teenager, who is hoping to become a police officer, was subjected to physical violence, threats and name-calling. …
