ARKLE Chase favourite Racing Demon will step up in trip when he reappears at Ludlow on Thursday.

Henrietta Knight's six-year-old has impressed on both starts over fences, winning at Exeter and Sandown over two miles, but will go an extra half a mile at the Shropshire track in which he could face the exciting Taranis from Paul Nicholls's yard.

Knight, who had her 16th winner of the season with Harringay yesterday, said: "It's over two and a half miles but that won't be a problem. Paul Nicholls has said he will run Taranis who looked very good at Newbury and he could give us a race."

Meanwhile Nicholls is set to send a couple of his top two mile chasers to Newbury tomorrow when Hors La Loi III and Cornish Sett are likely to face Irish raider Justified in the Pheasant Inn Novices' Chase. He said: "Hors La Loi is in good order at home and will run at Newbury."
