Team Northumbria gained sweet revenge with a 64-61 victory over Sheffield Hatters in the Women's Basketball National League.

The Tyneside squad had lost to the Tykes earlier in the season but home-court advantage gave them the edge in the return clash.

For the second week running, American guard Megan Ladley kept the home side in the game ( she was the only player who could find the basket in scoring the first eight points. After Sheffield opened an 11-7 lead, guard Charis Younger hit a three-pointer to keep Northumbria close.

It resulted in a run by the hosts and by the end of the first quarter they enjoyed a narrow 20-18 lead.

The second quarter saw two outstanding moves from forward Emma Ross and a major contribution from forward Agnes Fontaine, resulting in Northumbria holding a 32-31 advantage.

The third quarter belonged to Sheffield as they opened with a three-pointer and went on a 20-12 run to give them a five-point lead going into the final quarter. …
