Chelsea Are Keen to Tie Down Three Key Men on New Deals

PETER KENYON is confident Joe Cole, Damien Duff and William Gallas will sign new contracts with Chelsea.

All three will be in the final year of their deals with the club in the summer and would be in great demand if they became available.

Negotiations are not expected to start in earnest until the end of the season but the chief executive expects them and others to extend their commitments to the club.

After goalkeeper Petr Cech was tied down on a new deal until 2010 this week, Kenyon is relying on Chelsea's success to keep key players loyal.

He said: "Our first priority all the time is to extend the contracts of our current players.

Everyone is different but we are very confident that those whose contracts we want to extend we will and the squad by the start of next season will be what we want. We have great relationships with Duff, Cole and Gallas. They love playing for Chelsea and we love them playing for us. …
