Community Notebook; Free African American Art Exhibit at FCCJ

Florida Community College at Jacksonville is hosting a Jacksonville Consortium of African American Artists multi-media exhibit through Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the school's North Campus art gallery, 4501 Caper Road.

The exhibit will feature the work of SOLOMON DIXON, OVERSTREET DUCASSE, ANNELIES M. DYKGRAAF, MARSHA HATCHER, GIL MAYERS, SUZANNE SHINE PICKETT, PRINCESS SIMPSON RASHID, SUZZETTE SOLANO, ROOSEVELT WATSON III and JOHN WISE.

The art gallery is in the North Campus library, Building D, Room 301. The gallery opens at 7:30 a.m. Monday-Friday. It closes 10 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, at 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and at 5 p.m. Friday. It is closed on weekends.

A Getting Started With Home-Schooling" class is set for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Rock Solid, 376 New Berlin Road. Topics will include curriculum choices, testing, support groups, laws and more. …
