FORT WALTON BEACH CHOCTAWHATCHEE AT FLEMING ISLAND
Outlook: After moving up to Class 5A this season, Fleming Island has made its deepest playoff run. The Golden Eagles (18-4-2) downed visiting Gainesville Eastside before upsetting host Niceville in a pair of 2-1 games to advance to today's Region 1-5A final. Choctawhatchee denied Fleming Island a rematch with district rival Bartram Trail when it defeated the visiting Bears 3-2 on Tuesday. In their quarterfinal match, the Indians (17-4-1) bounced back from a two-goal deficit with three goals in the final 13 minutes against Tallahassee Leon.
ST. AUGUSTINE AT NEASE
Outlook: This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season. After playing the Yellow Jackets (20-2-2) to a 3-3 tie in their first regular-season meeting, Nease shut out St. Augustine 7-0 in the rematch. The teams met again in the District 5-4A final, where the Panthers (24-2-2) came out on top 5-0. St. Augustine beat host Inverness Citrus 3-1 before downing visiting St. Cloud 5-1 to advance to today's final. Sophomore Laura Ray scored six goals in the two wins to bring her season total to 54. Reigning Class 4A state champion Nease advanced to the regional final on a pair of shutouts: 6-0 over visiting Lecanto and 1-0 over visiting Orlando Bishop Moore. …
