THANK goodness for Gucci. After a particularly po-faced few days at the Milan collections, out steps the Gucci girl to a disco beat and injects a little bit much-needed fun into proceedings.

Taking her cue from the late Seventies of Gucci's pre-Tom Ford heyday, Studio 54, Halston and all things glittery, creative director Frida Giannini left no cliche unturned last night to push home her high-voltage new look.

Slinky, liquid-gold jersey, Lurex tights, leopard-print beading, mini dresses, sequins and crystal-studded bomber jackets all strode down the mirrored catwalk that flashed with a thousand tiny red lights and looked like it had been lifted straight from the dance floor of Saturday Night Fever.

And the white flared trouser suits? They were pure Travolta too.

The 33-year-old's new-found confidence can be attributed to the fact that she is now in sole control of the iconic Italian brand since menswear designer John Ray resigned last month. …
