HER FIRST NAME IS PRONOUNCED "I"

The name is short, much like her stature. But on a Tour loaded with young stars, Ai Miyazato of Japan could turn out to be the brightest by the end of the 2006 LPGA season.

Miyazato (right) made her LPGA debut this week at the SBS Open in Turtle Bay, Hawaii. She's 20 years old, and a Japanese native of Okinawa who won an amazing 11 Japanese LPGA events -- six last year and five the year before, when she was only 18. With a high-voltage smile, she is one more potential drawing card on a Tour that already is boasting Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and Morgan Pressel.

Miyazato is listed at 5 feet 2, but even LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens wasn't having any of that.
