REGION 1-5A

GAINESVILLE EASTSIDE (23-7) AT WOLFSON (25-4)

The game likely will be decided on the boards, where a physical, aggressive and athletic team from Eastside will vie with Wolfson's twin towers of Jeremy Grimball and Ray Doucette, both in the 6-foot-10 range.

"We have to keep them off the boards and from getting a lot of second-chance points," Wolfpack coach Bruce Rosebrock said.

Grimball has 27 blocks in his last three outings and needs 11 more to break Kenny Walker's single-season school record of 182.

He doesn't score much, but with Brandon Pressley (28 points last Tuesday) and Phadarius Taylor (20 points the previous game) both capable of topping the 20-point marks, Grimball can concentrate on his shot-blocking skills and defensive work.

The teams have played one common opponent, Columbia. Eastside lost to the Tigers twice during the regular season but beat them 66-59 in the district finals. That sent Columbia to Wolfson the following Thursday, and the Wolfpack prevailed 66-43.

In the final state rankings, Eastside was No. 5, Wolfson No 7.

REGION 1-3A

RIBAULT (22-7) AT DEFUNIAK SPRINGS WALTON (23-6)

This is a rematch from one year ago, when host Ribault beat Walton in the regional semifinals. The difference this year is the Trojans will make the 280-mile trek to DeFuniak Springs.

Ribault and Walton are similar in several ways -- both teams are athletic, like to run, have a big man in the middle and are ranked (ninth and 10th, respectively) in the final state poll. Walton's Jeremy Dunbar is a 6-foot-3 shooting guard who has averaged nearly 17 points per game and shares near-identical dimensions and stats to Ribault junior Chris Summers. …
