Scott parker goes back to the Valley for the first time on Sunday knowing that he will get the full treatment from the Charlton Athletic supporters.

The 25-year-old Lambeth-born midfielder was a trainee with Charlton and then a driving force in their engine room before moving across London to Chelsea for a cool pounds 10m on the last day of the January transfer window in 2004.

But because of injury, Parker has never been back to his old stamping ground, and Sunday will be a big day for the player who could hardly be more committed to United's cause.

And before today's training session Parker said: "Charlton is another big game for all of us, not just for me because it is my former club.

"We have lost the last three games, and we need to get back on track now.

"This is my first time back at The Valley, and I'm looking forward to it. …
