Hole-in-1 Enriches Tournament Golfer

YULEE -- David Kennedy hit all the right notes Feb. 20 while participating in the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival Golf Tournament at the Arnold Palmer-designed Golf Club of North Hampton.

Not only did he land his first hole-in-one in a lifetime of golfing, he also won $25,000 for doing it.

"It was fantastic," Kennedy said. "It was the shot of a lifetime."

Kennedy, who moved to North Hampton about a year and half ago from Boston, was invited to play in the tournament by Bill Straub. Bob Genovesi and Wade Wyatt completed the foursome.

The four were on their last hole of the day, North Hampton's par-3 third hole, when Kennedy made his prize-winning shot.

Kennedy used a 7 wood to drive the ball 175 yards. He saw it bounce once before it disappeared behind the lip of a sand trap, he said. A spotter told him it bounced twice again before rolling into the hole.

"I've been practicing that shot for a lifetime," he said. …
