A teesside parking attendant today relived the horror of being run over after asking a motorist to move his car.

Attendant Malcolm Riddiough was hit by Paul Fawcett's vehicle after he asked him to move off yellow lines outside a school.

Fawcett, 42, of Westbourne Grove, Teesville, was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for 18 months after a jury at Teesside Crown Court found him guilty of dangerous driving.

The incident happened at 9am on July 19 last year outside Teesville Infants School when Mr Riddiough, a Redcar and Cleveland Council parking attendant for 15 years, was on patrol.

He said: "I just approached him and talked to him because he was illegally parked.

"Then after he dropped his passengers off, I asked him to move.

"As I was crossing the road, I heard the car rev up, a screech of brakes and he had mounted the pavement.

"I was pushed to the ground, badly shaken.

"I think it's a good sentence and I hope it sends out a warning to other drivers. …
