Teams are playing catch-up to Newcastle Blue Star who enjoy a 12-point lead at the top. They have a free day and Billingham Synthonia aim to consolidate second position when they line up against Durham City at Central Avenue.

Synners enjoyed a good midweek victory and are pleased to have Lee Flanaghan, Michael Cater and David Wells in the side. Durham also secured the points from their midweek fixture and manager Andy Gowens is optimistic of finishing in at least the top six.

Dunston Federation go to West Allotment Celtic still hopeful of finishing second after having won the championship for the last two seasons. Celtic could have Warren Fisher returning to a first choice line up as they attempt to build on recent results.

At the bottom, only five points separate five clubs fighting to avoid joining Brandon United and Esh Winning in the second division.

Ashington are third from the basement ahead of the visit from Billingham Town, who have not given up hope of becoming runners-up.

A boost to Colliers manager Peter Johnson is the return of Ross Atkinson but Paul Beavers and Alex Lawson are ruled out.

Billingham Town will benefit from the inclusion of Richie Ward who has missed the last six games but although Andrew Burton has resumed training, it is still too early for him to play.

Mid-table Chester-le-Street meet Bedlington Terriers at Chester Moor Park hopeful of Elliott Milburn and Mark Errington playing. Terriers, who missed the chance to go second when held to a draw in midweek, are nevertheless just a point adrift of Billingham Synthonia with six games in hand.

Morpeth Town manager Steve Walker is confident of leading his side into a top-six position but they will need to defeat West Auckland Town at Craik Park to keep in the running. Lee Bell resumes but Kevin Henderson and Paul Haxon will need late checks on their fitness. …
