Article excerpt

I am looking for relatives of my great-grandfather John Johnson (1850-1910), who was a Member of Parliament for Gateshead 1904-1910, having started working down the mines at the age of nine.

He then worked his way up to be treasurer then secretary of the Durham miners and was, I understand, the first pitman to be nominated for MP.

He had three brothers: Matthew, died 1924; Charles, died 1948; Herbert, died 1960.

Any information on his brothers would be much appreciated and received either on the phone ( (0191) 266 3460 (or by post to the address below.

MR J M VEALE, 11 Forest Avenue, Forest Hall, Newcastle NE12 9AH.

CAN you help? I am looking for anyone who knew, or is connected to, Rose Ann Armstrong.

She was married to a Geoffrey Armstrong and they had a daughter called Margaret. I know that they lived in Forest Hall in the 1940s.

I need to find anyone who knew this lady. Anyone who reads this and has the slightest information would be gratefully appreciated. …
