THEY may be among the most expensive pop tickets ever sold in the UK.

But all 22,000 seats for Madonna's Wembley gigs were snapped up within 10 minutes of the box office opening at 9am today.

Hundreds of fans desperate to see their idol perform the only two London dates of her Confessions world tour began queuing on Monday - less than two hours after details of the 1 and 3 August concerts were announced.

They were given wristbands to return this morning and by 7am queues were snaking around the block.

The frenzy came despite the [pounds sterling]80 ticket price which rises to [pounds sterling]160. The price far outstrip those for the Rolling Stones, Rail ratings: Tube staff could earn up to [pounds sterling]2,500 each in bonuses over five years, but only with the public's seal of approval which range from [pounds sterling]40 to [pounds sterling]120.
