Twenty-five scholarships are now available to Northeast Florida parents interested in attending a conference on safeguarding children from online predators, abuse and other forms of maltreatment.

The Parent Scholarship will be offered to parents in the community who are neighborhood leaders, according to Parenting Partners, a First Coast Family Center program that works to unite parents with local parenting enrichment activities. The scholarships allow free admission to the first-day workshops at the First Coast Family Center's 13th annual Child Abuse Prevention Conference, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 3, and Tuesday, April 4, at the University of North Florida University Center at 12000 Alumni Drive, off Kernan Boulevard.

Conference registration for child-care professionals is $140, including lunch and a speaker presentation. My Medicare Matters is hosting a series of Medicare Part D education programs at city and private facilities in Mandarin and on the Southside, offering one-on-one education to seniors on the recent changes.

The free programs will be held at the following times and locations:

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Carriage Club of Jacksonville, 9601 Southbrook Drive on the Southside.

11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Mount Moriah Adult Day Care Center, 3919 St. Augustine Road on the Southside.
