Following is a list of arrests and crimes reported by Beaches-area police depart- ments:

ATLANTIC BEACH

A car chase involving a woman and her ex-boyfriend ended with a crash in the 600 block of Amberjack Lane.

The chase started about 3:30 p.m. March 14 when the 26-year-old woman realized she was being followed on Mayport Road. She turned into the Mayport Trace Apartments and the man followed her. She then pulled back onto Mayport Road and went south into Atlantic Beach. The man rammed his car into hers as she as she drove along several side streets and he continued to chase her onto Amberjack Lane, where he lost control of his car and crashed into a fence.

The man ran away. The woman told police she had broken up with the man about six months ago.

Two diamond rings worth about $29,000 were stolen from a house in the 2200 block of Beachcomber Trail.

The theft happened March 7 or 8 when a 2-karat diamond ring and another ring with several diamonds were stolen from a jewelry box in a bedroom.

A diamond and a gold bracelet were stolen from an apartment March 2 at the Fleet Landing complex at 1 Fleet Landing Blvd.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH

A 44-year-old homeless man was arrested on robbery charges Thursday after police say he snatched a purse from a woman outside a restaurant in the 1200 block of Penman Road and was struck by a car driven by a witness who chased him across the street.

After striking the robber, the driver stopped, grabbed the money that had fallen out of the man's hand, drove across the street and gave the money back to the victim and left. The man was taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital and treated for a broken leg.

The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. as the woman and her 12-year-old daughter were leaving the restaurant. The woman told police the robber punched and kicked her as they fought over the purse and that when her daughter tried to help her, the robber struck her as well. …
