Coach Rob Wilson has set his sights on yet more silverware with Newcastle Vipers next season and hopes the Elite League play-offs trophy will be the first of many.

The Vipers have already tasted success in two Findus Cup triumphs, but the play-off trophy was their first top-flight silverware ( and Wilson admits he is now hungry for more.

Of the current squad, David Longstaff has already won the play-offs with Sheffield Steelers in 2004 and Andre Payette hoisted the trophy last term with Coventry Blaze.

Now the whole of Wilson's squad have their name as winners on the trophy and he admits his side are looking forward to next season already.

He said: "We have had a week-long party to celebrate winning our first major trophy and nobody is sick of celebrating yet.

"We want to retain the trophy next year because we know what it means to everybody.

"Winning is important to the players but also the fans and I hope that this can be the first trophy of many, I do not see why not. …
