Prom Gowns Fit for Queen

Byline: By Rebecca Carter

This year's prom for pupils at Whickham Comprehensive School will be a night of mixed emotions.

It's being held in memory of Dean Henderson, 15, whose life was cut short last summer by a heart condition.

And thanks to the ambition and foresight of his fellow pupils the night is going to be a celebration of his life, with money raised going towards the charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young.

One of the organisers of the bash is Danielle Cooper, 15, from Whickham, who along with pal, Jessica Carter, 15, from Kip Hill, is keen to find a dress to fit the bill for the night to remember.

Both girls are very excited about their prom as it's the first formal event they have attended with all of their friends.

For the perfect prom look we started with make-up. As a special treat Danielle's mother Tracey, who runs a mobile beauty salon, took care of this.

For both girls she started with a base of `Laura Geller' primer, `Models Prefer Medium' foundation and `Elegant' translucent powder and blusher. For Jessica's eyes she used a selection of `Laura Geller' eye shadows in `peach pie' and `golden delicious' before finishing the look with `Elegant' mascara and lip gloss. For Danielle's eyes she used the `Urban Decay' palette and again finished with `Elegant' mascara and lip-gloss. Tracey's top product is prima as it helps the look to last longer and her top tip is to test lip colour on the tip of your middle finger as it is a close shade to your lips.

The next step for the ultimate prom look is hair so I took Danielle and Jessica along to Roots in Newcastle.

Danielle has shoulder length hair and after a consultation with stylist Lisa she decided to have the top half put up into barrel curls and her fringe blow-dried on to the side. For a finishing touch Lisa added soft curls to the back and some lilac paper flowers.

Jessica has slightly longer hair so stylist Melissa suggested a funky spiky look. She sectioned Jessica's hair and twisted each individual division to create an irregular fashionable look. Both girls really liked their new looks and agreed they each suited the individual styles. …
