Motorcycle rider crashes into tree

Two children have been left without a dad after the Bank Holiday weekend was marred by motorcycling trag-edy.

Andrew Lazonby, 38, of Astley Road, Seaton Delaval, was killed instantly on Sunday when his bike hit a tree on a Northumberland road.

The Procter and Gamble employee was riding his Suzuki SV1000 machine on the C200 road between Bedlington and Kielder when the accident happened at about 11.20am.

Police said he lost control of the bike while overtaking a car at Stannersburn, near Falstone, before hitting the roadside tree.

His devastated widow Tracy, 40, a team leader at Proctor and Gamble, had to break the news of his death to their daughter Paige, aged 12, and son Kurt, 10.

She said: "That was his great love, riding his bike.

"He would spend all his spare time working on his bike and riding it. He had been riding since he was 16.

"We are waiting to find out more about the accident. …
