Wuerffel, Doering Make Gators' Hall; Former Florida Football Teammates Join Seven Others in Induction

GAINESVILLE -- Former University of Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel still isn't sure if his whole football career was nothing more than a dream.

Friday, he might have received some closure when he and eight others were inducted into the University of Florida Athletics Hall of Fame.

"My whole career at Florida feels like a dream sometimes," said Wuerffel, who was the 1996 Heisman Trophy winner. "I wonder if it really happened, and maybe this can help make me realize that it really did happen, or maybe I'll think that this was a dream, too. I don't know. It's just been a great experience."

Wuerffel is the director of development for Desire Street Ministries, a school program that was uprooted from New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina. The school moved to Niceville for this school year and will relocate to Baton Rouge, La., next year.

Wuerffel's former teammate, wide receiver Chris Doering, also was inducted Friday. …
