It has been a while coming, but don't be fooled by the lack of sun and hot weather, we're heading into summer.

If you're like me, you'll want to be prepared for that moment when the sun finally peeks out of the clouds ( ready to wear sleeveless tops and skirts.

And with skin being enveloped by layers of clothes throughout the winter, you'll need to do some work to prise your skin out before it can be revealed.

"After the body has been covered up during the winter months, everyone wants to achieve the cared-for look in the shortest space of time," says Noella Gabriel, from Elemis.

"The skin works on a 21-day cycle, so three weeks before a holiday is perfect timing to start conditioning your body. For the fastest results, start with the home spa experience ( daily body brushing and exfoliation at least twice a week is a must."

THE first step would be to cleanse, rub and scrub away the overindulgence of the previous months.

Keep skin gently stimulated and maintain a healthy circulation by exfoliating. Using a dry body brush will boost lymphatic movement.

"I always body brush before my shower. Not only does this soften and gently exfoliate the skin, it supports lymph drainage which in turn helps to detox the body. Brush with long strokes from the feet upwards and always towards the heart," advises Amanda Banks, Nivea's skincare adviser.
