A youth had to be rescued after becoming stuck in mud on a recreation ground in County Durham.

Firefighters were called to Etherley Dene, in Bishop Auckland, after three youngsters became trapped in soggy ground on Saturday, at around 2.20pm.

Two youths managed to free themselves, but one had to be pulled out by firefighters using water recovery equipment.

A new sexual health screening and treatment service has been launched in the Durham and Chester-le-Street area.

The Monday Clinic is available to people up to the age of 25 at the Brandon Lane surgery in County Durham from 4pm-6pm each Monday.
