Why did no one help my mum?

A daughter has told of her anger that her mum was left to fend for herself after falling in a Teesside street.

Janet McMahon can't believe that several people and three cars went past her mum Doris , who had fallen forward on a Marske pavement.

And she was so angry, she went public with her feelings by pinning up laminated posters to shame those who didn't help.

And today, she urged people NOT to follow that example if they see someone in distress.

Janet, 38, of Marske, says Doris was out walking her dog at around 8am on Thursday when she tripped and fell forward in Bydales Drive.

The stricken 69-year-old, who has angina and diabetes, was on the ground for several minutes, yet no one came to her aid.

At least three cars went past her, as well as several people, including one man who ran towards her but then continued past.

Shocked and bruised, she eventually managed to haul herself to her feet and hobble home. …
