Terry McDermott is convinced that Newcastle United have a backroom staff with the passion to bring success to the club.

Glenn Roeder announced his new team last week and, while Terry Mac will continue to work with the United first team, he will also be expected to chip in with scouting duties.

And he told me today: "That isn't a problem. It's something I did with both Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalglish and something I really enjoy."

McDermott will be sharing the United bench with Roeder, new No 2 Kevin Bond and Lee Clark ( who has been dubbed The Apprentice by chairman Freddy Shepherd.

And former United midfielder McDermott added: "I love being a part of this football club and I think I am going to enjoy it even more next season because there are so many of us with a real feel for Newcastle United. …
