Some great horses have won the Prince Of Wales's Stakes over the years and another thrilling renewal of the 10-furlong contest is in store at Royal Ascot tomorrow.

Dubai Millennium, Bosra Sham, Rakti, Nayef and Fantastic Light all figure on the recent roll of honour, and the chances are that racegoers are going to see another special performance, this time from Ouija Board.

The five-year-old really has been a credit to connections, travelling the world in search of the biggest prizes, and her form is rock-solid, much better than the other main protagonists David Junior or Electrocutionist, it can be argued.

Those involved with her deserve all the praise for keeping a dual Classic winner in training, and her two most recent runs this year have shown she is far from a back number.

A fast-finishing third in Hong Kong in April, where she really should have won, has been followed by a close-up second to the high-class Shirocco over a mile and a half at Epsom.

The drop back in distance will not be a hindrance and a positive ride will see her hard to beat at what is likely to be a rewarding price.

Asset can prove aptly-named for his followers in the Jersey Stakes.

The Richard Hannon-trained colt was expected to fare better than ninth in the 2000 Guineas after an explosive seasonal debut on the all-weather at Kempton.

He did not quite deliver, but in truth was not totally disgraced in what was undoubtedly a high-class renewal.

He took a keen hold early on and is worth another chance dropped back in trip to seven furlongs and it is a case of the faster the ground, the better he will go.

Soviet Song is expected to enhance her sparkling record with a Royal win in the Windsor Forest Stakes.

The decision to run the mare against her own sex rather than in the much tougher Queen Anne is probably the right one with the rest of the season in mind, and she is a significant cut above her rivals at her best. …
