RESIDENTS FEAR MURDER PLAQUE WILL MAKE IT HARD TO SELL HOMES; Street Blocks Family's Wish for Memorial to Sally Anne

A ROW has erupted over plans to mark the spot where teenage model Sally Anne Bowman was murdered.

Sally Anne's mother Linda wants to place a memorial plaque in Blenheim Crescent, South Croydon, where the 18-year-old's body was discovered in September. She was stabbed to death with a carving knife.

But residents claim that a plaque would disrupt their lives and make it difficult for them to sell their homes. They say they are already having problems with Sally Anne's family and friends visiting the location.

"One guy has been turning up, playing Sally Anne's favourite songs very loudly from his car," said one resident. "If we get a plaque here there will never be an end to it. We just want to get on with our lives."

Another resident said: "There is a woman on this road who cannot sell her home.

"Sally Anne has a grave and also a memorial garden in the local school. We don't want to upset Mrs Bowman but we live here, she doesn't. …
