Is a 24-year-old fashion design graduate from Northumbria University. Originally from Hull, he recently won the River Island Gold Award and pounds 20,000 for the best collection at Graduate Fashion Week in London.

I've always been interested in art. I used to go to a stage school, after school, for years. I did my A-levels in Graphics and Art and then went on to do a foundation course in Art and Design.

Every single male in my family plays football and are obsessed football fans, but I decided to do performing arts and fashion instead. My mum always says she has no idea where I get it from.

I'd always been interested in fashion, but it never crossed my mind to become a fashion designer. Once I tried it, though, I fell in love with it and have never wanted to do anything else since.

My sister is a beauty therapist and she loves it that I do fashion. She's always telling all her clients. She was dead proud when I won the award. She was telling everyone. She's always saying how gutted she is though that I specialise in menswear. I'm going to design her wedding dress next year, though.

Hull isn't the best place for shopping for men ( it's getting better ( but I used to always get frustrated at having to go to Leeds or London when I wanted to buy really nice casual clothes. It was just natural for me to do menswear.

I love vintage shopping. I've got a bit of an obsession for leather jackets. I think I've got more than 20 different colours. I'm always keeping my eyes open.

Northumbria was my first choice when it came to applying for university places. My tutor recommended it and when I visited Newcastle before I made my decision, I just loved it as a city and the course just made so much sense.

I'm my own customer. I design what I like.

I love so many different style periods. There was a waistcoat in my collection which was inspired by the twenties and then I had leather jackets which I took details from the seventies.

I adore New York. I did my placement there. It's hard to explain, just the feel of it and all the different places to go within it. …
