Businesswomen who are sick of their male colleagues constantly talking about the World Cup can enjoy a welcome night off tomorrow.

While businessmen have been busy supporting England at World Cup parties and celebrations over the last three weeks, now more than 200 North-East businesswomen are meeting to 'do business' at a major event organised by Yorkshire Bank.

A glamorous 'World Cup Women' event at St James' Park in Newcastle tomorrow night will see the region's top business women building on their business prospects and learning from the successes of some star performers.

Speakers will include Newcastle television producer and stand-up comic Judith Holder, local networking expert and Women Into the Network founder Dinah Bennett and well-known underwear expert and self-made businesswoman, Sadie Ayton, more commonly known as Sadie the Bra Lady.

Jill Brown, an associate at Yorkshire Bank's Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) in Newcastle and one of the organisers of the event, said: "About half the staff in our centre are women and we're all very active with local businesses. …
