A versatile all-round performance from Darren Lehmann helped Yorkshire Phoenix canter to an eight-wicket victory over Durham Dynamos in the Twenty20 Cup at Headingley.

The former Australia batsman deservedly won the man-of-the-match award after following up three wickets by scoring an unbeaten 37.

Chasing a target of just 122, Yorkshire got there with 22 balls remaining to end a run of six consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Captain Craig White and Michael Lumb made a rapid start to the hosts' reply by putting on 27 inside three overs before Lumb was dismissed by Neil Killeen immediately after rapping him for three consecutive fours.

White had struck four boundaries in his 25 when he was caught on the mid-wicket boundary by Gordon Muchall, leaving Lehmann and Anthony McGrath (24) to win the match with an unbroken third-wicket stand of 51 in seven overs.

The game was played in very poor light, and McGrath's hook for six off Mick Lewis struck a boy in the face, causing him to go to hospital for treatment on his jaw and holding up play for seven minutes.

Put in to bat, Durham struggled against tight bowling and only opener Muchall batted with any confidence, making 46 off 40 balls with seven boundaries before being caught by Mitch Claydon diving forward at backward point off Richard Dawson.

None of Yorkshire's six bowlers proved expensive and it was spinners Dawson and Lehmann who got Durham in a tangle by bowling their four overs apiece in tandem and collecting four wickets for just 33 runs.

Lehmann's left-arm spin brought him 3-19, Yorkshire's second best figures in the competition.

Australian-born paceman Claydon excelled in his first Twenty20 match. His four overs cost him only 24 runs and he conceded just a single in the penultimate over of the innings.
