Val Shawcross v Richard Burns

A LONDON ASSEMBLY report exposed the difficulties experienced by the emergency services in dealing with the 7 July attacks. But fire authority chairwoman Val Shawcross has written to Richard Barnes, the Tory Assembly member who led the inquiry, accusing him of "mishandling of the report in the media" so that the emergency services suffered "a completely unjust drubbing" and staff were "maligned and misrepresented". Alas for Shawcross, her stance was overruled by other authority members.

Barnes is maintaining a statesmanlike silence.
