How long have you been established? After two years' planning, I started trading in January 2006.

Where did you go for business advice: Entrust at North Tyneside Business Centre, North Shields. New Entrepreneur Scholarship.

How did you decide which line of business to enter? I did my A-level in fashion at North Tyneside College then went on to study fashion design at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. I decided that hip-hop was my thing and there is a market for it.

How did you come up with the company name? It is my name backwards and is distinctive on my clothing label.

What's the best thing about running your own business? I think it is because you can work all the hours you want, stay open later and work on my Edaj magazine. Also I can arrange my private life around my work. I get to go to loads of hip-hop venues and clubs all around the country. …
