When John Cornforth got an apology from his best mate the last thing he expected was to be stabbed in the stomach.

Anthony Anderson suddenly turned on John at a party after earlier apologising for making fun of his stammer.

But when John, 22, of North Shields, put his arms around Anderson he plunged a Rambo-style knife into his stomach, exposing his insides.

John said today: "He was saying J-J-John. I asked him to pack it in and he said: Why? What are you going to do? We went outside and he said he was sorry. I went to hug him and he sank the knife into my stomach. It happened so fast I didn't see the knife."

John didn't realise what had happened until another friend shouted he had been stabbed. He was taken to North Tyneside Hospital, in North Shields, for an emergency operation on his bladder and bowel. John is still recovering from the ordeal after spending four days in hospital when his bowel was put pack into his stomach. …
