Sir Michael Stoute is planning to run Rob Roy rather than Jeremy in the Cantor Spreadfair Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood - with the former now as low as 10-1 with Coral to win the Group One contest next week.

The significant market move comes after Stoute revealed that Jeremy is more likely to stick to seven furlongs in the Betfair Cup rather than tackle a mile for the first time.

Stoute, who has won the Sussex three times, said: "Jeremy is more likely to run in the Lennox Stakes (The Betfair Cup).

"I will confirm him in the Sussex and will look at both races but at this stage he is more likely to go to the Lennox.

"I was very impressed with him at Ascot. He had a lot of running to do two furlongs out but he showed a turn of foot that I had not seen before."

Rob Roy's three-year-old campaign was blighted by sore shins incurred in the 2000 Guineas and he flopped on soft ground earlier this year in the Lockinge. …
