Laughing Thieves Stole My BMX Bike

A young cyclist begged yobs not to take his bike but was told to "shut up" as the gang rode off on it.

Michael Brown, 12, was crossing the Millennium Bridge, which spans Stockton riverside, with his nine-year-old friend, Kevin Baker, at about 2pm on Saturday when they were stopped by three teenagers.

"One of them grabbed me and started shaking me around and pulled me off it," said Michael.

"I begged them not to take my bike and they just said 'shut up' and then laughed while they rode off with it".

Michael, a pupil at Norton School, received the pounds 150 white 2-hip BMX as a Christmas present last year. He was not injured in the robbery but was left shaken.

His mum Susan described the gang as "heartless" and urged any witnesses to get in touch with police.

"It's the start of the summer holidays and he was looking forward to riding around on his bike so he's absolutely devastated," said Mrs Brown, of Norton. …
