A lotto loser could be missing out on a jackpot win because he or she hasn't checked his or her winning ticket.

National Lottery players in Newcastle's West End are being urged to check and double-check their old Lotto Extra tickets as someone is sitting on a pounds 192,342 prize and may not even know it.

The call comes only weeks after Lotto chiefs put out a plea for a pounds 5.5m ticket which had not been claimed in the North East.

But the search is now on to find the owner of the ticket who matched five numbers in the last Lotto Extra draw on Saturday, July 8, 2006 ( the winning numbers for that draw were 10, 17, 35, 42, 46 and 49.

The ticket-holder has until 5.30pm on January 4, 2007, to come forward and make a claim. As nobody matched all six numbers to win the pounds 3,269,813 jackpot in the final Lotto Extra draw on July 8, the prize was shared between everyone on the next prize level, who matched five numbers instead. …
