Anxious Wait for Hurt Cole; Mourinho: We're All Very Worried

JOE COLE was today in hospital having a scan on his right knee amid fears that damaged ligaments could rule him out for five months.

Cole suffered the injury (right) in Chelsea's preseason friendly defeat to the MLS All-Stars, and coach Jose Mourinho admitted it was a serious concern.

Cole had to be taken off just five minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in Chicago, where Chelsea tumbled to a 1-0 defeat. Now Mourinho is preparing for bad news as doctors assess the situation.

He said: "Joe Cole is the real problem of the day. If you tell me no problems with Joe Cole and you lose the game 10-0 I would sign it immediately. We don't want injuries especially in preseason, and Joe is injured.

"I'm not a doctor, I don't want to speak about it because it's not my job but everybody is worried.

He has done something in his knee, in his ligament, we have to wait. We have to go to London and do some examinations but he is really injured. …
