Where do you live and why?

I split my time between two places. I spend a lot of time in Egypt, where my family live (I stay with my son Tarek and my grandchildren). But I also live in Paris. Living in France means that I can go to the races and see my horses run, which I love.

How long have you lived there?

I settled in Paris when I left Hollywood, because I loved the Parisian way of life, and also because my bridge partners were mostly French (or Italian).

I live right in the centre in the eighth arrondissement, just round the corner from the George V hotel.

Where do you stay in London?

The Westbury, The Athenaeum and The Dorchester, to name but three.

Who is in your secret address book?

I like Turnbull & Asser on Jermyn Street for clothes. I used to have my shirts made there, but now I mainly wear the ones my son manufactures in Egypt.

What have been your most memorable London meals?

Eating pasta at San Lorenzo, when it's my friends, the owners Mara and Lorenzo Berni, preparing it. I love the seafood pasta they do: taglierini with lobster and prawn sauce, as well as spaghetti with clams.

What are your extravagances?

My horses. I own several flat racehorses.

What is your life philosophy?

To live the present moment as if it would be the last.

What do you listen to on your iPod as you travel around London?

I don't have any 'modern' gadgets. I don't know how to use the internet or email. I don't even have a mobile phone.

What items are in your summer wardrobe?

Where do you get them?

I don't really change my way of dressing following the seasons. I just wear the same clothes in lighter materials. I change black cashmere polonecks for dark blue cotton ones. I buy them from Harrods.

What are your current projects?

I have a cameo role in the movie 10,000 BC, filmed by Roland Emmerich. It should be coming out next year.

What charity work are you involved in?

I am patron of the charity One to One. It's a children's fund that does a lot of work in the Middle East, helping both Palestinian and Israeli children, and it does an amazing job. …
