Season Is All over for Hylton Vet Owen

Championship hopefuls Esh Winning visit mid-table Hylton tomorrow but they will not have to face Owen Williamson, who has been a stalwart with the Wearsiders for many years, (writes Malcolm Pratt.

Williamson dislocated a finger playing in the recent game with Langley Park and it is in plaster following two operations.

"I took a catch and felt pain but at the time did not think too much about it," explained Williamson.

"Eventually, I went to hospital and I have now had a couple of operations so quite definitely my season is over."

However, Williamson is determined to play again next year despite nearing the end of an illustrious career which has been spent mainly with Hylton.

He said: "I am still enjoying every minute I play and so long as I am not keeping a youngster out of the team, I will make myself available.

"I am so disappointed that I am not going to be able to play in the last four matches of the season, especially as I miss tomorrow's clash with Esh Winning who are in with a shout for the title. …
