Inzy Call to Scrap Result of Test

INZAMAM-UL-HAQ today called for the Fourth Test to be declared null and void as he claimed umpire Darrell Hair did not consult him before saying the ball had been tampered with.

England were awarded The Oval Test when Pakistan failed to reappear after tea in protest having been accused of balltampering by umpires Hair and Billy Doctrove.

Although England were already leading the four-match series 2-0, Inzamam is now urging the International Cricket Council to change Sunday's result.

"We were in a winning position," said Inzamam.

"The players are very disappointed and upset the match was awarded to England by the umpires. If anything we want the ICC to declare the result as null and void. The Pakistan Board are trying to convince the ICC to do this."

The flashpoint came at 2.30pm on the fourth day's play when Hair and Doctrove decided to dock the tourists five runs and changed the ball after they believed it had been tampered with. …
