Expansion Sets Potter Up for the 21st Century

Fastening and flange distributor, Thomas Potter Ltd, is set for the 21st Century thanks to its recent expansion into bigger and better premises.

Currently the largest independent distributor of industrial fastenings, flanges and tube in the North-East, the business relocated from its previous site on Industry Road, Heaton, to new 44,000 sq m premises at Admiral Business Park in Cramlington five weeks ago. The move is part of an ongoing expansion plan which is set to double the company's pounds 4m turnover within the next three years.

Thomas Potter managing director, Harry Veitch, said: "As well as enabling us to provide bigger and better facilities for our customers, the new premises have given us the ability to move into the 21st Century. We have doubled our stockholdings which has resulted in our trade counter being busier than ever.

"We are now in a position to develop customer relationships by increasing our product range, as well as looking forward to adding more strategically placed sales and distribution branches. Another major benefit of the new Cramlington site is that it allows customers greater access to the A1 and A19. We have only been open for five weeks and already there has been a great response from our customers."

The expansion has allowed the company to create new jobs and it has recently taken on two new staff, with plans to appoint a further three, to join the 30-strong team. The business is also set to expand its already vast product range with the introduction of hand and power tools.
