Andy Murray is playing down his chances of success at the US Open over the next fortnight.

The Scot heads into the final major of the year in New York high in confidence after rising to 19 in the world rankings and earning a seeding of 17.

His recent form has seen him become only the second player to beat world No 1 Roger Federer this year, but the 19-year-old is not getting carried away.

He said: "I'll have a bit more belief going into grand slams, although I don't think physically I'm good enough to win a grand slam yet.

"It may take a few years. But my game is getting better all the time.

"Physically, I'll get stronger. To win a grand slam you have to be in unbelievable shape.

"I can play five-set matches, but playing them back to back is what you have to do.

"If I was to win every match in straight sets then, yes, I probably could do it. …
