on guard

Hurricane season 2006 is approaching fast, and the Florida National Guard wants everyone to know it's mobilizing efforts to prepare for action.

A Guard news release said about 100 leaders attended a pre-hurricane-season workshop to talk about possible hurricane recovery missions. The two-day event included talks with local, state and federal emergency response officials.

The release says any parents who were not selected but still wish to fill out the survey can do so online. Call (904) 829-6261 for more information, or go online to www.pactprevention.org. Survey participants remain anonymous.
