A 40-year-old Southside woman was arrested early June 28 after an officer chased a car along the 4700 block of Hodges Boulevard until its driver got stuck in the grass, police said.

Police said a passing officer noticed a woman walking unsteadily to her car outside a gas station at 4765 Hodges Blvd. at 1:36 a.m. and pulled over to ask her if she had been drinking. The woman stacked three large sodas on her car roof and told the officer she didn't have to speak to him, then jumped in and sped off, the sodas falling to the ground. The officer followed with emergency lights and sirens as the woman sped up Hodges Boulevard at 60 mph with headlights off, swerving from lane to lane, police said. The woman hit the brakes hard and swerved into an apartment complex, circling it three times before exiting on Chets Creek Boulevard and driving off at 50 mph. The woman lost control at Chets Creek Boulevard and Chets Creek Drive East and got stuck in the grass. But even when the officer told her to get out, she tried to drive off, spinning the tires until she rolled her window down and an officer shut off the engine.

Police said they called in city paramedics to check the woman, who was fine, while she also passed a field sobriety test. The woman was arrested and jailed, and her car seized, police said. She had a suspended driver's license, police said.

Following are the crimes and other incidents reported recently on the Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office:

A 23-year-old Arlington man was forced to disrobe at gunpoint early Friday, then robbed in an apartment complex at 2943 Spring Park Road.

Police said the victim was getting out of his car at 1:09 a.m. when five men approached. One walked up and ordered him "to get naked," a silver handgun shoved in his back for emphasis, according to the police report. …
