Mum left living in fear after attack

A young mum has told of her terror at being shot by a man wielding an airgun in her own home.

Kerry Hindmarsh, 27, told how she was shot in the arm and the leg during the assault at her home in Fourth Avenue, Stobhill, Morpeth, Northumberland.

One of the slugs caused a wound under her right arm which required surgery at Wansbeck General Hospital.

Ms Hindmarsh said another hit her in the right leg, bouncing off her jeans but causing her painful bruising.

She said she had gone out at about midnight to walk a friend home just before the attack happened.

She said: "He came here and shot me. He shot me when I walked through the door. I was bleeding a fair bit from my arm and I shouted at him. I went in to the kitchen and when I came back he had gone. …
