Geordie gran Anne Telford organised a fun day for bored youngsters to raise cash for children in her community.

Anne set up the event in the fields overlooking Camperdown Avenue, North Tyneside, because she is unhappy with the lack of activities local children have in her neighbourhood.

The 48-year-old grandmother-of-four said: "It's ridiculous. For such a big neighbourhood you would expect at least some football pitches on the big field or even a park for the younger children.

"There's a great big green where they could have a park. There are a lot of kids and it's a shame because there's nothing for them.

"I just felt I should organise this as there is just not enough for children to do anymore in their spare time. I wanted to give them a boost before they go back to school.

"When I told the parents they thought it was a great idea."

Activities that took place at the weekend included sports games, a bouncy castle and various stalls. …
